LET Use Cases - Scribe Notes from Thursday

SCORM 2.0 Workshop Meeting Notes
Working Group Track 1 (LET 2.0) - Thursday Session
Jackie Haynes, scribe
Eric Roberts, Jason Haag and Nina Deibler, Facilitators

Morning:
The facilitators presented the use cases which were begun on Wednesday afternoon.  Additional ones were added by several people who had worked on them overnight.  These were discussed by the group and some were modified based on group discussion.  The focus of the discussion was on the "what" to be considered for SCORM 2.0 rather than the "how" or architecture-related considerations.  Furthermore, guidance to the group was to not make assumptions about the structure of 2.0, for example assuming that it would use an LMS or that content would be contained in SCOs.

Following discussion,  the group was divided into four subgroups, and each of these smaller groups was given the task of developing or elaborating upon a use case.  Several sets of use cases were developed in several 30-minute periods.  Each of these was then given to the facilitators and each sub-group presented their use cases to the entire group.

Afternoon:
Each subgroup was given written copies of the use cases developed in the morning. Each subgroup annotated each of the use cases with 'key words' describing the LET-related issues it contained that should be considered in designing SCORM 2.0.   Once this was completed, Nina facilitated a discussion of all the key words developed by each group.  These were then aggregated under major categories.

Following the afternoon break, members of the architecture group and the business group joined the LET group for a discussion of what was being considered, and how the use cases we developed would be used to inform their work.  Allyn Radford presented an overview of a 3-tiered framework being considered, and briefly reviewed the LET use cases discussing where each fit into this framework and what might or might not be part of SCORM.
